CPSO ARRESTS MAN FOR BURGLARY & AGG BATTERY
On October 3 around 4:30 p.m. Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a burglary in Moss Bluff. Upon arrival, the owner advised deputies he received a call from a friend who told him someone had entered his shop through a hole in the wall which was caused by a car accident that happened earlier in the day. When he arrived home, he found Kevin B. Hastings, 21, 1277 North Hwy 171, #56, Lake Charles, inside the shop and attempted to detain him. Hastings gained control of a flashlight the owner was carrying and struck him in the head then fled on foot. Deputies tried to locate Hastings but were unable to do so.
Detectives received a tip later which resulted in Hastings being located and questioned about his involvement in the incident. He was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with simple burglary and aggravated battery. He was also booked on an active warrant for possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of marijuana.
Judge Robert Wyatt set his bond at $35,500.
CPSO Detective Beth McGee is the lead investigator on this case.
