Reports are indicating that the death toll from the monster tornado that ripped through Joplin, Mo. has soared to 116, making it the deadliest single tornado in nearly 60 years according to federal records. Authorities feared the toll could rise as the full scope of the destruction comes into view.
Missouri American Water has issued a boil order for all customers in the Joplin area, including surrounding communities. The city is working to keep the high damage area clear of unnecessary traffic in order to provide efficient emergency and repair services.
This deadly twister slammed straight into St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin, MO. 183 patients were in the hospital at the time and the facility only had five minutes warning that the tornado would strike. More than 100 patients have since been evacuated to other hospitals. A spokesperson for St. John's Health Systems says five patients and an unidentified hospital visitor were killed. The families of the patients who died have been notified. The hospital is still trying to identify the visitor.
Seven people have also been reported dead at a nursing home, according to police reports.

"The video i took while at Fastrip on east 20th street. We huddled in the back of the store until the glass got sucked out , then ran into the walk in storage fridge. Sorry for the lack of visuals but the audio is pretty telling of how intense the storm was. The tornado hits at around 1:20 seconds."
